This double chocolate banana bread recipe is a rich and chocolate version of classic banana bread. He has a deep dark chocolate flavor that gives him a little taste like a chocolate cake but with a delicious addition of banana flavor. This vegan version is made with simple ingredients that you can find in the grocery store and is the sweet treat perfect for any chocolate lover or anyone with a sweet tooth.

What type of banana to use for your bread with bananas with double chocolate chocolate

The best type of bananas to use in any banana bread is additional bananas. You want either to use fully brown bananas, or at least too ripe bananas with a lot of brown spots.

What type of flour to use

I like to use whole wheat flour due to higher nutritional content as opposed to all flour for use. I like the white whole wheat flour / the whole wheat paste flour because it was more finely crushed and works very well in the cooking recipes. If you don’t have white wheat flour, you can use another flour. Regular whole wheat flour, all -use flour or oat flour would work very well in this recipe. When using oatmeal, keep in mind that the final product will be slightly less soft because oatmeal does not contain gluten. If you wanted another gluten -free flour option, you can also use gluten -free cooking flour: 1. This recipe will not work with coconut flour or almond flour.

What you will need to make this double chocolate banana bread recipe

Dry ingredients

  • White whole wheat flour: See the notes of flour above for other flour options.
  • cocoa powder: In this recipe, I chose to use an unprocessed natural cocoa powder. The cocoa powder is nutritious and rich in iron, magnesium and potassium. This is why I prefer cooking with cocoa powder, but you can certainly replace it with cocoa powder. Dutch cocoa powder and unsweetened cocoa powder work very well in this recipe.
  • coconut sugar: Brown sugar or white sugar will also work.
  • pulp
  • espresso powder: It’s optional, but it brings out chocolate flavors in the recipe.
  • sea salt

Wet ingredients⁣

  • Too ripe bananas
  • ground linen seeds
  • maple syrup
  • vegan yogurt: I used vegan yogurt to keep the recipe without dairy products, but you can also use Greek yogurt. If you don’t have them on hand, the sure cream can also work.
  • molten coconut oil: You can also use vegetable oil, olive oil or canola oil.
  • vanilla extract

Fall back

  • dark chocolate chips: I used vegan chocolate chips, but you can use semi-sucking chocolate chips, milk chocolate chocolate or pieces of dark chocolate instead. You can even chop a chocolate bar and add it to the banana bread.

Complete instructions, recipe ratios and nutritional information are all in the recipe card at the bottom of the post. If you have tried and liked this recipe, you can also leave a comment and a note there, which goes so far to help my work!

Ingredients for the double chocolate banana bread recipe

Equipment

  • potato braver or fork to crush the bananas
  • a great mixture bowl
  • A pan
  • cooking ladder (Optional): This is not a requirement because you can use measuring cups, but I find that it can sometimes be difficult to obtain the exact amount of flour using a measurement cup, and weighing flour is the best way to ensure a correct measurement. This is why I included the grams of this recipe in the recipe card. You can just make this recipe using measurement cups, but make sure you measure correctly. Here is a great video showing how to correctly measure the flour.

Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix the sets. You can use a support mixer or an electric mixer to do this, but I just used a whisk.

Once the dough is formed, incorporate the chocolate chips.

Grease a bread pan with oil and type it with parchment paper. Then pour the dough into the prepared saucepan and add additional chocolate chips to the top. Cook the bread for 55 to 60 minutes at 350 * f / 175 * C.

Adding the double chocolate banana bread dough to a bread pan

Note: Another option to garnish the chocolate banana bread is to garnish it with an additional banana. You can decide a banana in half of the long track and place it on top. This will create a caramelized banana garnish for bread and it makes a delicious garnish if you wanted something other than more chocolate chips on top.

Remove the bread from the oven, place it on a rack and let it cool at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes, then cut it and enjoy it!

I love to add vegan melted butter and floconne salt, melted dark chocolate or peanut butter on each edge.
