What you will need to make toasting bread sticks in the fried

This easy recipe uses simple ingredients to create crisp and soft soft toast sticks which are also without eggs, without dairy and vegan products.

  • Milk without dairy products⁣: Any variety works! Remember that if you use sweet or flavored milk, it will also add flavors.
  • Ground tin seeds: We will use them to defend the eggs of the French toast dough.
  • Cornflour: Help thicken the dough so that it collects better for bread.
  • Coconut sugar: My favorite sweetener but you can use other types of sugar if you prefer.
  • Nutritional yeast: This adds a little Umami flavor to the French toast that we are not using an egg.
  • Vanilla⁣: Add notes of heat and a pleasant aroma and a sweet flavor.
  • Spices: Cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg and salt complete the egg -free dough for the French toast.
  • Bread: Make sure you use outdated bread for the best results. ⁣

Make sure you check the recipe card at the end of the publication for the full list and the quantities of each.

Substitutions

  • Exchange ground linen seeds. You can also use ground chia seeds for a similar effect.
  • No expired bread? If you don’t have stale bread, you can leave your bread unpacked during the night to let it dry a little or toast it lightly before using it in the recipe.
  • Change the spices. You can experiment with mixtures such as apple pie spices and pumpkin spices to add more spices to the dough.
  • Gluten -free. If you need it to be gluten -free, you can use your favorite gluten -free bread.

How to make French toast sticks in the air fryer

This simple air fryer recipe goes together in a few quick steps. Here is an overview, but be sure to check all the details of the printable recipe card at the end of the article.

  1. Slice the edges Off of your stale pieces, then cut each slice into strips. I obtained about three strips of each slice of bread.
  2. Combine milkLight, cornstarch, sugar, nutritional yeast, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in an average bowl. Mix them well.
Mix the ingredients to make the French toast bread bread dough from the air fryer.
  1. Soak each stick of bread In the mixture for a few seconds, ensuring that both sides are covered in the mixture.
Discard the pieces of bread in the dough in a bowl.
  1. Line your air fryer With a piece of parchment paper and spray it with coconut oil before placing the sticks on top.
  2. Cook in a preheated air fryer for about 8 minutes. Return them then cook for 2 more minutes.

How to serve

This is the funny part! There are many ways to serve your French toasting bread sticks from simple to more elaborate. Here are some of my favorite trim:

  • Get the bases: A slight pinch of powdered sugar and maple syrup is everything you need.
  • Fruit compote: Remember to make a simple compote of fresh berries or another type of fruit to make a dip sauce for sticks.
  • Walnut butter: You can warm your favorite such as peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter or any other and make it water or use it as a dip.
  • Dessert: You can also use them to serve a decadent breakfast by adding a ball of vanilla ice cream Or whipped cream on top with your favorite fresh fruit.
  • Cinnamon-succre mixture: Exchange the powdered sugar for a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.

How to store and reheat

Although they definitely have the best taste of freshly prepared, they work well for a quick breakfast that you can prepare in advance or reuse the leftovers. Here are my tips for storing and reheating.

Place the sticks in an airtight container and keep in the refrigerator for up to three days. To store longer, freeze the sticks on a baking sheet in the freezer. Once they are frozen, transfer them to a container or bag. This facilitates the abolition of the amount you want to heat later.

Reheat your frozen toasting bread sticks in the air fryer for 3 to 5 minutes at 350 ° F or until heated.

Recipe advice

  • Make sure you use stale bread. The ordinary bread is too soft and once you dip it in the dough, it is more likely to collapse.
  • Serve While the toast is hot.
  • The cooking time can vary. Depending on the bread you use, its thickness and your type of air fryer. Look carefully especially the first time you make them in case you need to make adjustments.
  • Be sure to cook the toast In a single layer in the air -fry basket and leave a little space between each. This will allow air to circulate, which causes more uniform cooking.

Frequently asked questions

How long to cook French toast sticks in the air fryer?

I found that 10 minutes worked perfectly with my air fryer, the size of the sticks I prepared and the bread I used. These factors all influence the time so that your cooking time can be different.

If this is your first cooking, I suggest that you check it frequently. Once one side of the sticks has become golden brown in color and is slightly crisp to the touch, they are ready to be returned.

Then, once the other side feels and looks alike, this side is ready too and the toasts are ready!

What is the best bread for French toast sticks?

You can really use any type of bread to make them. Brioche bread, toast in Texas or an egg bread are traditionally used, but as these breads are not vegans, I recommend using French bread or another bread without eggs you love.

Regardless of the bread you choose, the most important thing is to use expired bread. This guarantees that it will not collapse after it is soaked in the French toast dough.

  • 1 tablespoon coconut sugar
  • 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon⁣
  • 1 dash nutmeg
  • 1 dash salt
  • 5 slices expired bread⁣

Instructions

  • Start by slicing the edges of the stale bread, then cut them into strips.

  • It is better to use stale bread, so it does not collapse once it is soaked in the mixture of French toast. If you do not have stale bread, you can either leave the bread out of the bag in the refrigerator during the night, or lightly grill the bread before using it in the recipe so that it is firmer.

  • Then combine milk, linen, cornstarch, sugar, nutritional yeast, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in a medium bowl. Mix them well.

  • Dip each stick of bread in the mixture for a few seconds, ensuring that both sides are covered in the mixture.

  • Line your air fryer with parchment paper and spray the paper parchment of coconut oil. Place the toast sticks on top.

  • Place them in your fryer at 350 * F for 8 minutes. At 8 minutes, get them out, turn them and fry them for another 2 minutes.
