Total Time: 20 minutes
Portion Size: Serves 4
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk (or milk of choice)
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup, plus extra for serving
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- A pinch of salt
- 8 slices of thick bread (brioche or challah work well)
- 2 tablespoons butter (for cooking)
Method
- Prepare the Batter:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Dip the Bread:
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1/2 tablespoon of butter, letting it melt and coat the surface.
- Dip each slice of bread into the batter, ensuring both sides are well coated but not overly soaked.
- Cook the French Toast:
- Place the dipped bread on the skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining slices, adding more butter as needed.
- Serve:
- Serve warm with an extra drizzle of maple syrup and, if desired, a sprinkle of powdered sugar or fresh fruit.
